National Music Centre is thrilled to present a special mentorship opportunity for Jam Club participants and Calgary youth. Join renowned bassist Lisa Jacobs at this special guest mentorship session highlighting bass and live performance.

Participation is on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants can sign in at the lobby of Studio Bell's West Block (851 4 St. SE Calgary, entrance between CKUA Radio and the King Eddy).

About Lisa Jacobs:

Multi-instrumentalist, Lisa Jacobs, declares the bass guitar her most beloved. Playing her first blues festival at age 12, she has gone on to write, record, music direct, perform and tour with a of variety artists, including Jocelyn Alice, Marshall (Walk Off The Earth), Jill Barber, Kyle McKearney, Johnny Reid, Wide Mouth Mason and Jann Arden (a personal highlight). She has songs featured on tv shows and co-wrote a song that went gold in Canada in 2018.

Lisa has a degree in music therapy (with a minor in jazz performance on electric bass). As a therapist, she’s had the opportunity to create music with people of varied abilities in many different settings including schools, hospitals and even a maximum security prison.

She was recently awarded “Musician of the Year” by Country Music Alberta (CMAB) and was nominated for “Bass Player of the Year” by the Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) in 2023.

She currently sits on the board for the Western Canadian Music Alliance and is a former board member of the Music Therapy Association of Alberta.
