FAMILY DAY AT STUDIO BELL TO FEATURE DUELING PIANO KINGS AND TONS OF FAMILY FUN ON FEBRUARY 21

BUY A PAY-WHAT-YOU-CAN 6-MONTH NMC MEMBERSHIP ON FAMILY DAY ONLY

(Calgary, AB — February 14, 2022) The National Music Centre (NMC) will be opening Studio Bell with free admission on February 21 for a special Family Day event with Dueling Piano Kings. Gather your friends and family for a day of fun, musical exploration, and interactive activities.

Dueling Piano Kings is a highly interactive all-request piano show “where your requests rule.” The duo was crowned “Entertainers of the Year” for the entire country at the Canadian Event Industry Awards in March 2019 and they were the first winners ever of the 2017 Calgary Event Award for “Best Entertainer”! These two piano players have decades of piano-playing experience, and can play any song you want to hear, from classic rock, retro, to the latest Top 40 music. No performances are ever the same!

Visitors can also explore vibration, volume, and how we put energy into instruments through a hands-on Instrument Petting Zoo. Catch a Kimball Theatre Organ demo, and dive into The Eh! Game, a self-guided trivia exercise where you'll work as a team with your family to answer a variety of questions and riddles about Canada’s music story. The Eh! Game activity can be picked up in Canada Music Square from a staff member.

“Family Day is one of our favourite days of the year,” said Andrew Mosker, NMC President and CEO. “With multiple closures over the past two years due to the pandemic, this will be the first Family Day event we’ve hosted since 2020. We love seeing families and friends connecting through music, and we can't wait to welcome you back for this beloved event on February 21!”

While admission is free on Family Day, paid tours will be offered to families who want to amp up their experience. Go "behind-the-glass" of the National Music Centre's exhibitions, dive deeper into specific artifacts, and see the collection come to life with a musically trained tour guide. Behind-the-Glass Tours are $10 for adults, $7 for students/seniors, $5 for youth (4-12), and free for NMC Members and kids 3 and under. Book yours onsite at Studio Bell’s box office.
