NATIONAL MUSIC CENTRE AND ANNERIN PRODUCTIONS BRING ROCK THE NATION MUSICAL REVUE TO STUDIO BELL, FROM JANUARY 28-MARCH 5

A JOURNEY THROUGH OVER 50 YEARS OF CANADIAN MUSIC, PAYING TRIBUTE TO THE GUESS WHO, JONI MITCHELL, AVRIL LAVIGNE, THE WEEKND, AND MANY MORE

(Calgary, AB — January 10, 2023) The National Music Centre (NMC) is pleased to announce Rock the Nation, a musical revue presented by Annerin Productions, from January 28-March 5 at Studio Bell.

Rock the Nation is a rousing, theatrical production celebrating and honouring Canada’s remarkable musical legacy. Covering hits from the ‘60s to the present day, it features songs that inspired, moved, comforted, and challenged a country. It’s the soundtrack to generations and a musical reflection of a country’s evolution; a nation intent on building its own unique identity in a rapidly changing world. Experience it all live on stage, and journey through the decades by revisiting songs and music made famous by Paul Anka, the Guess Who, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Maestro Fresh Wes, k.d. lang, Avril Lavigne, Shania Twain, Drake, The Weeknd, and so many more.

“Rock the Nation will help kick off an exciting new year of National Music Centre programs at Studio Bell, home of the National Music Centre,” said Andrew Mosker, NMC President and CEO. “This series will amplify Canada’s rich musical story, delight audiences of all ages, and leave guests inspired by the diversity and depth of the ever-evolving Canadian songbook.”

“Through this production, audiences will have the chance to witness and learn how Canada, our artists, and our music have influenced the changing world,” said Jeff Parry of Annerin Productions. “We are really excited to be presenting this show to new audiences at Canada’s National Music Centre. It will complement the exhibits and collections that are currently showcased in their magnificent building, Studio Bell. We hope that audiences learn about Canada’s music from the show and are further inspired to see the real artifacts from some of these Canadian icons on display.”

National Music Centre will host two matinee performances of Rock the Nation every Saturday and Sunday at 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm, from January 28-March 5. All performances are included with paid admission to Studio Bell.

Special thanks to Calgary Arts Development for supporting Rock the Nation.
