(Calgary, AB — January 30, 2024) On February 19, the National Music Centre (NMC) invites families to enjoy a day of musical bonding at Studio Bell with free admission. To add a delightful touch to this annual family-friendly event, beloved Alberta songwriters, Mariel Buckley and T. Buckley, are uniting as The Buckleys.
Award-winning musicians – and siblings – Mariel Buckley and T. Buckley effortlessly capture the hearts of their audience wherever they perform. Mariel Buckley’s candor and magnetic live shows have been charming listeners across North America since her debut LP, Driving In The Dark. Meanwhile, T. Buckley, a quiet luminary amidst a disappearing ilk of true craftsmen, continues to carve his own distinct path.
Family Day at Studio Bell, home of the National Music Centre, has become an annual favourite for families, inspiring them to strengthen their bonds through the power of music. With lots of family-friendly performances and hands-on interactive activities, it promises to be a fun-filled day of music and connection.
Music presented on Family Day celebrates the diversity of our city and helps create a sense of belonging for all. Visitors can catch live music performances and special activations, such as an instrument petting zoo and demonstrations of the show-stopping Kimball Theatre Organ. Plus, the entire fourth floor of the museum has been completely updated, so visitors will have a chance to see new items on display, and it’s the public’s last chance to catch the Randy Bachman: Every Guitar Tells a Story exhibition before it closes at the end of the month.
“Family Day at Studio Bell is the ultimate jam-packed celebration, where families can connect and create lasting memories through music,” said Andrew Mosker, NMC President and CEO. “As a hub for music, history, and live performance within our community, we encourage families to buy an NMC Family Membership at 50% off on Family Day and help instil a love for music on their loved ones all year round.”
