• What is happening at Studio Bell on Canada Day?

  Join us for a music-filled Canada Day celebration as National Music Centre marks its 10-year anniversary at Studio Bell. Enjoy a free, building-wide birthday bash featuring live music, exhibitions, and hands-on activities for the whole family.

• Is admission on Canada Day free, and are there any membership offers?

  Yes, admission on Canada Day is completely free for all visitors! No tickets or advance registration is required.

• Can I spend the whole day at the event, and how do I get there?

  Yes! You can easily spend the entire day at Studio Bell, with all-day programming, food, and entertainment available. 

  Getting there: 

  • Free parking: Lot 90 (East Village) – 298 3 St. S.E. 
  • No parking zone: Confluence Way S.E. (north side, between Riverfront Ave. S.E. and 6 St. S.E.) from 7:00 am – 6 :00 pm
  • Free shuttle service: Available throughout the day with multiple stops near the event

• What live performances are happening and where can I find them?

  In the Performance Hall, enjoy:

• What activities will be available for families?

  Visitors can take part in interactive, family-friendly activities such as:

  • Kimball Theatre Organ demonstrations
  • Drum-along sessions led by Beatmap Music
  • Music Odyssey Goosechase scavenger hunt

• What exhibitions can I explore?

  All galleries will be open for you to explore throughout the event. 

  Highlights include: 

  • Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductees like Nelly Furtado, Sum 41, and the feature exhibit, Timeless: 100 Years of Oscar Peterson
  • The updated Speak Up! exhibition, honouring Indigenous trailblazers such as Tudjaat, Crystal Shawanda, Andrea Menard, Jerry Alfred, and the Stoney Park Singers
  • PlayLab, an interactive, hands-on sound playground where visitors of all ages can explore, experiment, and make music together

Visitor Information

• Is the museum accessible and stroller-friendly?

  Yes! Elevators provide easy access to all five floors of Studio Bell, and stroller parking is available on Level 2.

• Will food and drink be available?

  Yes. The NMC Gift Shop and Café offers a selection of beverages, pastries, sandwiches, and salads.  

  While you are there, be sure to browse the NMC Gift Shop and take advantage of the annual Canada Day sale.

  Craving something more filling? Explore The King Eddy’s full menu, then stick around for live music from 4:00 pm until close.

• Is there a place to take breaks or eat lunch besides the Café?

  Yes, a designated snack room will be available in the Soundscapes Gallery (Level 2).

  Please note: outside food and drink are not permitted in the NMC Gift Shop & Café.

• How much time should I allow for my visit?

  A typical visit last about two hours. However, with programs and activities happening throughout the day, you are welcome to make a full day of your visit.

  Please note that closing announcements begin at 4:40 pm ahead of our 5:00 pm closing time.
