Andrea Menard

Andrea Menard is a Métis singer, songwriter, actor, and author who has earned acclaim as a defining voice within Canada’s arts community.

Originally from Flin Flon, Manitoba, Menard gained national attention with her one-woman jazz musical, The Velvet Devil (2008). Her show — later adapted into a CBC film — established her as a storyteller with emotional clarity and demonstrated her fierce commitment to Indigenous representation.

Menard has released five significant albums, including Simple Steps (2007), Sparkle (2008), and Lift (2014), which are characterized by narrative-driven healing and autobiographical reflections on Métis history and identity. Notable compositions such as “Silent No More” and “Where Is God in This Place” address themes of endurance and cultural reclamation. Menard’s new theatrical cabaret, Rubaboo, derived from the Michif word for “leftovers stew,” is a musical feast taking audiences on a moving journey into the beauty of Métis culture.

Menard’s career has been marked by collaborations with artists such as Alex Cuba and Heather Rankin, and acting roles in numerous dramatic series — Moccasin Flats, Rabbit Fall, and Sullivan’s Crossing, to name a few. Her artistic contributions have earned substantial industry recognition, including 16 Canadian music awards, five acting awards, and recently being named “Métis Artist of the Year” at the 2025 Saskatchewan Indigenous Music Awards.

Andrea Menard is a powerful voice exploring Indigenous empowerment and the Sacred Feminine. She views her work as a vital tool for healing and connection, emphasizing the importance of listening to inner wisdom and ancestral guidance.
