About this Position
Reporting to the Manager of Accounting, the Accountant is a full-time position on the National Music Centre’s Finance team. The successful candidate will have full-cycle accounting experience, an accounting diploma/degree, exceptional attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills, and a passion for the not-for-profit sector.
This is an in-office role with flexibility to work from home one day per week.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Bank reconciliations for NMC and King Eddy (KE)
- Facilitate Brinks cash deposits and pick-ups
- Count and replenish cash floats and reconcile related cash activity as needed
- Coordinate accounts receivable, including invoicing, client follow-up, and payment processing
- Process finance department invoicing
- Prepare cheques/EFTs/wires during biweekly payment runs
- Maintain supporting EFT payment documentation
- Process and record intercompany invoices between NMC and KE in both entities
- Maintain the T4A tracking spreadsheet and prepare annual T4A slips
- Record transactions incurred on KE Mastercard
- Record KE deposits in QuickBooks Online and reconcile related cash activity
- Setup payments to artists for weekly guaranteed and ticketed shows for performances at KE
- Reconcile and record monthly inventory counts for beverages, food, and retail
- Prepare reconciliations for event deposits, sales on account, and unpaid Square invoices/accruals
- Reconcile revenue reports to ticketing software
- Maintain files, including filing of cheque stubs, Mastercards, and other miscellaneous filings;
- Assist with annual financial statement audit;
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Diploma/degree in accounting
- 3 years of accounting clerk experience, preferably in the non-for-profit sector
- Knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices
- Excellent computer skills, experience with Microsoft Office and Teams
- Experience with QuickBooks Online is an asset
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Accounting experience in the restaurant and live music industry is an asset
- Strong aptitude for working in a deadline-oriented environment
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task
- Highly organized and self-motivated
