Canadian electroacoustic composer and musician Sarah Davachi will perform a three-part online concert, showcasing several historic pieces from the National Music Centre's musical instrument collection.
In the summer of 2021, Davachi spent a week as the National Music Centre’s Stingray Classical Artist in Residence. This performance is what resulted from her experimentation. Davachi's work illuminates the delicate psychoacoustics of intimate aural spaces, utilizing extended durations and simple harmonic structures that emphasize subtle variations in overtone complexity, temperament and intonation, and natural resonances.
A three-part virtual stream will be available on NMC's Facebook page on November 2, starting at 10:00 am.
This online concert is sponsored by Stingray and presented in partnership with the National Music Centre, New Works Calgary, and Canadian New Music Network.
