King & NMC Present — GBÈDU: An Afro-Jazz Orchestral Experience

Following a sold-out debut, Nigerian-Canadian composer King Udofia returns with the second edition of Gbèdu presented with the National Music Centre. 

His 21-piece orchestra takes the Studio Bell stage for an immersive evening of horn-driven grooves, heavy percussion, and lush orchestral strings. Audiences are invited to sing, clap, and dance, as they experience a contemporary celebration of African music and culture.

About King Udofia

King Udofia is a Nigerian-Canadian composer, arranger, musical director, and the Artistic Director of Gbèdu. He creates music for recordings, live performance, worship, film, and curated events. Rooted in his cultural background and shaped by formal training in jazz composition and performance, King brings a distinct voice to music that is emotionally rich and deeply moving. Described by Afros in the City as one of Calgary's most versatile musical architects, his work spans collaborations with Disney, the Calgary Stampede, Titilope Sonuga, Johnny Summers, and Femi Leye.
