NMC & The Canadian Folk Music Awards Present: Folk for Families

An all-ages concert celebrating music for young listeners and families. Performers include: Max Francis, James Culleton, Ginalina, and Oh Clementine.

The Canadian Folk Music Awards celebrate and promote Canadian folk music in all its forms. Formed in 2005, the annual awards recognize the breadth and depth of folk music in Canada – including songwriters, performers, instrumentalists, recording artists, and producers. From traditional and contemporary, to Indigenous and Francophone music, the awards offer a platform for showcasing emerging youth performers to veterans of the Canadian music scene.

Join us for a Folk for Families, a matinee concert showcasing a selection of Canadian Folks Music Award nominees. Two awards will be presented: Children’s Album, Young Performer.

This concert is included with the CFMA weekend wristband, and is open to the public with the purchase of a ticket.

About the Artists

Max Francis

With a musical journey that began even before birth, Max Francis found an early and lasting connection to sound and rhythm. At age three, Max made his stage debut, igniting a lifelong passion for performing.

Max quickly expanded his musical skills, taking up guitar and ukulele, and by age six began studying violin, joining the Coastline youth fiddle group and the BC Fiddle Orchestra. Classical training followed through the Victoria Conservatory of Music. Then in 2020, Max was introduced to Texas-style fiddling.
