Studio Bell Goes Country, Extends Hours for Stampede 2021

STUDIO BELL GOES COUNTRY, EXTENDS HOURS FOR STAMPEDE 2021

FREE ADMISSION COURTESY OF ATB AND EXTENDED HOURS FROM JULY 9-18

(Calgary, AB — July 2, 2021) The National Music Centre (NMC) will be offering extended hours at Studio Bell and free admission courtesy of ATB for all 10 days of the Calgary Stampede, from July 9-18.

The additional hours will give music fans more opportunities to visit NMC’s country-themed textiles and artifacts and the Homegrown Country exhibition. The exhibition that originally launched in 2019, showcases some of Canada’s top country talents and the pioneers who paved the way for today’s rising stars.

Homegrown Country features audio, images, and spectacular country couture from the Hall of Fame collection, including Hank Snow’s “Nudie Suit,” and other fun performance outfits from Lucille Starr, k.d. lang, and Gordie Tapp. Other highlights include Wilf Carter’s cowboy boots and saddle, and a selection of instruments from artists like Paul Brandt and Dick Damron.

The Idols & Icons gallery on the fifth floor has also been "country-fied" with dazzling stage wear from Earl Heywood, Colleen Peterson, The Mercey Brothers, Carrol Baker, Myrna Lorrie, and Shania Twain.

“You don’t want to miss Studio Bell as part of your Stampede experience,” said Andrew Mosker, President and CEO, NMC. “Reconnect with the outstanding Homegrown Country exhibition that celebrates the achievements of many of Canada’s finest country artists. Then cross the street to visit the reigning CCMA-winning Country Club of the Year, the King Eddy. There is so much for country music fans to explore at Studio Bell—and we’re located just 600 metres from Stampede Park!”

Additional activations at Studio Bell include busker performances at 1:00 pm daily with country-pop duo Belle Cabin (July 9 & 17), roots-rocker Marcus Trummer (July 10 & 14), and bluesy rock 'n' roll troubadour Matt Blais (July 11, 15, 16 & 18).

Exit through the NMC Gift Shop & Café to purchase locally made music-inspired gifts or a homemade bite. Then cap off your visit to Studio Bell with a stop at the King Eddy’s main floor dining room or rooftop patio. The Eddy’s Stampede Happy Hour runs daily from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm and features an all-Canadian lineup. The best part? There’s no cover. Plus, show your Studio Bell ticket stub to receive 10% off your bill. See more info on concert listings at kingeddy.ca/whats-on.

Studio Bell is open with free admission courtesy of ATB, July 9-18 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Reserve your tickets at studiobell.ca/general-admission. Please note: NMC will be using a timed-ticketing system, so tickets must be booked in advance and arrivals must be on time. Those without pre-booked tickets will not be guaranteed entry at their preferred time.

NMC will also be offering 50% off memberships for the month of July. When you buy or renew your membership in July, you’ll be automatically entered to win the Ultimate Birthday Bash presented by Bell. The bash includes a customized tour of Studio Bell and activities catered to any age group for up to 20 people, along with a $200 food and drink tab at the King Eddy.
