Book a School Program

In-person field trips to Studio Bell are back for the 2022-23 school year!

National Music Centre’s school programs work towards the mission of amplifying the love, sharing, and understanding of music in Canada. Our hands-on programs are based on Alberta’s K-12 curriculum and programs of study. Featuring items from NMC’s rare and unique collection, programs are led by talented musician educators who will make concepts come to life.

We have developed two new programs for teachers to select from — a guided experience with NMC’s talented educators or a self-guided experience.

Our guided half-day package has been designed to target multiple aspects of the Alberta curriculum while taking advantage of the wide-open spaces of Studio Bell’s East Block (museum portion). As has been the case in previous years, a prevalent theme of this new program is the science of sound, music, and musical instruments, which ties directly into the Grade 3 Science curriculum topic Hearing and Sound.

In addition to the guided experience, NMC is excited to offer a self-guided experience. This package includes a self-guided exploration of Studio Bell centred on our brand-new educational resource. Using this resource, students will seek answers to curriculum-relevant questions, apply critical thinking skills, and just plain have fun!
