National Music Centre is thrilled to present acclaimed children's performer Beppie as part of the CIBC Community Showcase series.
About Beppie
Stephanie Nhan began her musical journey at the age of six at Long & McQuade (L&M) in Regina, SK. In 2000, she began her teaching career at L&M and then in 2006 moved to Alberta to study music at Concordia University. She has been teaching piano, voice, and group music lessons for over twenty two years.
Stephanie writes and records children’s music under the artist name, Beppie. Her albums have received two JUNO nominations (2023 & 2019) and two Western Canadian Music Award nominations (2022 & 2021). She performs both in her community of Edmonton and across the province of Alberta at festivals and events. Stephanie also provides music programming, adjudication, and workshops to schools, libraries, and childcare centres across Alberta.
She is a member of the 2022 Recording Academy Class and has recently signed on with Platoon (Apple Music) to release her latest album, Nice to Meet You, which came out on September 9th, 2022. The new album is the fifth in Beppie’s discography and has been praised by her peers, fans, and the press.
Throughout her years of teaching in Edmonton, Stephanie developed an early childhood music curriculum for ages 2-5 at Resonate Music School & Studio. She incorporated her original Beppie music into the lessons and gained inspiration from the students she taught. She also works as an Educational Assistant at MacEwan University with Access and Disability Resources.
Stephanie is a proud mom of three young children who sing and compose with her at home. When she’s not writing or teaching music you can find her in her garden or at the ice rink playing hockey.
