Join us on a classic tour of the museum led by NMC’s musically skilled educators ⁠— but with a thrilling synth conclusion.

In celebration of our month-long synth spotlight, we’re concluding a handful of tours with the world’s first and largest multitimbral polyphonic analogue synthesizer — but you can just call it TONTO. Built in 1968 by the late Malcolm Cecil, TONTO (The Original New Timbral Orchestra) is considered to be the ‘holy grail’ of synthesizers.

Get a behind-the-scenes glance at one of National Music Centre’s most treasured artifacts which is normally kept under wraps in our world class recording facilities.

About the Tours:

Go "behind-the-glass" of the National Music Centre's exhibitions, dive deeper into specific artifacts, and see the collection come to life with a musically trained tour guide.

These special TONTO-edition of the Behind-The-Glass interactive tours will be available on four occasions throughout the month of October:

  • Sunday, October 9 at 11:00 am
  • Sunday, October 16 at 11:00 am
  • Sunday, October 23 at 11:00 am
  • Sunday, October 30 at 11:00 am

Tours are roughly 60 minutes in length and recommended for those ages 12 and up. Spots are limited, and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
