The National Music Centre is pleased to present punk rock outfit The Shiverettes with Wares and Mademoiselle.
Hailing from Calgary/Treaty 7 territory, The Shiverettes come equipped with gnarly riffs, snotty attitude, and brash honesty. With a sound that’s been compared to The Stooges, Seven Year Bitch, and MC5, the four-piece push their Feminist Agenda™ with a heavy dose of sass, side eye, and shade. The Shiverettes are taking over and yanking Calgary punk into the deep end of the feminist pool.
Wares is a musical project engineered by Edmonton songwriter Cassia J. Hardy. From teeth-rattling electric convulsions to soft-spoken acoustic refrains, the musical inflections explored on each Wares release are as varied as they are enthralling.
Inspired by the Riot Grrrl movement and the “girls to the front” mantra, Mademoiselle uses today’s current social and political issues to inspire their music. Using only a bass, drums, and their voices, the femme punk duo aims to create a sound as big as their messages.
