"Scott Cook has distilled his travels down into songs powered by a sharp eye for imagery, a healthy dose of humanity, and that unforgettable voice, that at the same time intones the rigours of the road and the most comfortable couch you have ever slept on."
— David Francey, 3x JUNO Award winner
Edmonton’s Scott Cook has been living on the road for the last twelve years, touring across Canada, the US, Europe, Asia, Australia and elsewhere, and independently releasing six albums along the way. His 2017 album Further Down the Line earned him his second Canadian Folk Music Award nomination, and comes packaged in a 132-page book containing a look back, in words and pictures, on his last decade of near-incessant travel. All the hard miles notwithstanding, he still believes that songs can change your life, and your life can change the world.
Showtime! is a concert series which provides opportunity for students to get up close and personal with professional musicians in the intimate setting of our performance space at NMC. Classes will develop active listening skills, audience etiquette and an appreciation for live music all while enhancing classroom learning through curriculum-connected shows that are interactive. These are not “kiddie concerts” but rather a personal and adapted version of the musician’s own repertoire, performed for a student audience.
