About this position

The Digital Media Assistant will play an important role within the organization on many levels: This role will be primarily related to assisting the Digital Media Specialist to capture and edit digital assets for NMC. The successful candidate will also assist NMC’s Collections, Exhibitions, Programming, Marketing and external clients, on project-specific video production tasks, and any other digital media asset needs of the organization. The hourly rate will be between $17.50 and $25 depending on experience and responsibilities given.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Conducting digital capture and production needs related to videography, streaming, photography, audio and lighting for NMC.
Video and audio capture for interviews, performance, events, live streaming.
Setup, troubleshoot and operate video cameras, streaming and video switching infrastructure.
Organize, manage, and maintain NMC’s digital media assets.
Editing raw digital content to a final product.
Help to generate original content for NMC’s online magazine, Amplify.
Being a strong team player with exemplary leadership skills and positive attitude.
Attend productions (some weekends and after hours) and capture and edit digital content as required.
Maintaining the department’s inventory in an organized manner.
Provide all digital assets for NMC’s needs in a timely manner.
Fluent with Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and other Adobe Creative Cloud software in a Mac environment.
Training in visual arts, videography photography, and or a related field.
Trained to use DSLR cameras, video cameras, microphones, and other audio/visual recording equipment.
Experience using the Panasonic GH5 is an asset.
Firm understanding of video compression, codecs, and media encoding software for a variety of outputs and devices.
Excellent video editing skills and strong audio knowledge.
Experience setting up and operating video/camera switchers and streaming gear.
Shows competency for properly lighting a set or backdrop for a video shoot or interview.
Has experience shooting video/photo of live performances, interviews and events.
Adept at storytelling.
Has strong organization and project management skills.
Ability to think critically and be a creative problem solver.
Possesses excellent file management skills/practises.
Be willing and able to work evenings, weekends and maintain a flexible part time schedule.
Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset.
Be a personable worker with the ability to work with an ever-changing roster of staff, volunteers, clients, guests and contractors.
Ability to lift 30 kilos.
A passion for music, musical knowledge or musical skill is an asset.
